I saw dr Kathryn McCarthy for the first time at Southmead hospital out patient on 1/9/2020 I was so impressed and relieved by her she was so lovely from the start she listened and was very thorough in every way as I bin feeling quite poorly for 2 years and lost 4 stone in weight I have been in and out of hospital emergency several times and still suffering but dr McCarthy reassured me that she will try to get to the bottom of my ongoing health problems and have organised several scans X-rays I left the hospital vey pleased in what she going to do for me as I’ve been to hospital a few times but got no answers although I’d only just met her ,her mannerism and her care and positive reaction to me was of the highest standard I look forward to seeing her again with the news of how she’s gonna help me mrs Janet Sherratt

I was referred to Doctor McCarthy after discovering quite a large lump in the entrance to my vagina. I can't rate her highly enough. From start to finish she has made me feel so at ease. I would just like to say thank you for helping me and for everything you have done.

Miss McCarthy gave me great confidence in her ability to help me overcome my long standing bowel condition. She was very professional and empathetic in dealing with me. Both my husband (who accompanied me) and myself agreed how much we liked her and her approach in dealing with my problems. I am unable to make any constructive suggestions for improvement as we only met her on one occasion and as I have said we were very comfortable with every aspect of this consultation.

I saw Miss McCarthy at Thornbury Hospital on Monday 22nd July. Miss McCarthy is an extremely lovely person. I am so grateful she became my consultant after Mr Dixon. She has a sunny happy way about her and is always smiling. She never hurries a consultation and listens to what you have to say, which is very refreshing. This is reflected in the letter sent to my GP a copy of which I received today 31st July. She has given me an open appointment for 12 months and has assured me she is just on the end of the telephone if I have concerns. Just excellent.

There are not enough stars to rate the fantastic care I’ve received at the hands of Kathryn and her team. I’ve been operated on twice by her. The first operation was quite literally a life saving loop ileostomy and the second was the reversal a few months down the line. Had a scope recently and once again Kathryn and her team were fantastic. Very reassuring and really put me at ease. Nothing was too much trouble, a very highly recommended surgeon.
